Seasons of Soldark cover reveal

Seasons of Soldark cover reveal

It’s here! The cover for my upcoming collection in all its seasonal steampunk glory:

Designed by the talented people at Deranged Doctor Design, this gorgeous beauty will be launching on Kickstarter on September 5th! You’ll be able to get your hands on this book as a limited edition full-color interior hardcover, with character illustrations, chapter art, and more. The color edition will ONLY be available if you back the Kickstarter, so don’t miss out.

It contains all four of my Seasons of Soldark novellas, giving you four heartwarming seasonal stories to read whenever the mood strikes you. You can read them in any order, and they each standalone, making it a very stress-free read.

About the Kickstarter:

I chose Kickstarter for launching this book in order to make this launch extra-special! The platform allows me to essentially have a very fancy pre-order process, complete with limited edition swag–something I would never be able to do on normal retailers. These stories are very special to me, since realizing cozy fantasy was actually a genre people like, because I love it too. And I want to share these stories with as many people as I can.

Not familiar with Kickstarter? As I said, it’s basically a fancy way of pre-ordering. First, make sure you’re following the campaign on Kickstarter, and then Kickstarter will notify you the moment it launches (Sept 5). If you want to support the project, there are many different tiers of funding, all of which come with some kind of reward. For example, if you pledge $10, you’ll receive a copy of the ebook collection as a reward! Other tiers include paperback editions, and of course the Kickstarter exclusive: a hardcover with full-color interior. I can’t wait to show you the character illustrations, and art that will decorate every single page!

About the Novellas:

Spectacle of the Spring Queen

Mae Wright has always dreamed of opening her own seamstress shop, and when she inherits a premises in the illustrious city of Soldark, she thinks her dreams have come true. But misfortune strikes the moment she steps foot in the city, when she loses her money and her things after saving her dog from falling into the port. With the help of a local theater and its mysterious director, she’ll need to get back on her feet–but will her dreams of becoming a seamstress be the same after finding a new life in the theater?

The Mechanical Masquerade

Verity Pennington has always wanted to attend the Midsummer Masquerade ball held by the elite society in Soldark. And when her best friend tells her she’s moving, and it’s their last chance to get in, Verity must tap into her creative side to pull off a mask that will allow her entrance. When a thief steals valuable clock plans from her father’s shop, and Verity knows he’s going to be at the ball, getting in isn’t just a fanciful idea anymore, but a daring escapade.

All Hallows Airship

After a childhood illness, Caz Coppersdown is finally heading out of Soldark on her own, though she doesn’t consider her great aunt’s estate anything exciting. She’s more interested in tracking down a big news story that’ll get her published in the Soldark Times, but her aunt’s All Hallows soiree doesn’t seem too newsworthy. That is, until a catastrophic blast in town points fingers at innocent people. She’ll need to dig for facts quickly, because the constables are calling..

The Clockwork Ice Dragon

Aurelia Sundon finally has a chance to get into the illustrious Inventor’s Guild. The only problem? The deadline for submitting her invention is Christmas Day. She thinks she’ll be able to swing it, until her ex-boyfriend shows her his competing invention, which has gone out of control and is covering the city in snow. As she decides whether to help him, the snow is getting deeper, and the clock is ticking…

Happy Book Birthday, All Hallows Airship!

Happy Book Birthday, All Hallows Airship!

All Hallows Airship lands today just in time for peak autumn foliage here in Connecticut.

A catastrophic blast. A haunting memory. And she only has one chance to prove her family’s innocence.

All Caz Coppersdown has ever wanted is to be a journalist for the Soldark Times. But the chances of her parents letting her pursue a breaking story are slim. Secluded after a childhood illness, Caz finally gets to leave Soldark for a trip to the country to her great aunt’s estate, but she quickly finds out there isn’t anything newsworthy there—unless you count her aunt’s upcoming All Hallows Eve soiree.

Until the local airshow clashes with her aunt’s party plans—causing more than just pumpkins to be destroyed. When Caz meets one of the airship pilots and discovers something about her family’s past, Caz might have just found her big story.

But she’ll need to dig for the facts quickly, because the constables are looking for a culprit, and old ghosts are making themselves known on this All Hallows Eve.

The Mechanical Masquerade: A Steampunk Novella, Now available!

The Mechanical Masquerade: A Steampunk Novella, Now available!

Enter Soldark, a city full of ambitious inventors, wily clockmaker’s daughters, and a cast of characters that will set your steampunk heart aflame.

Each novella in Seasons of Soldark is a standalone story, and can be read in any order. They each follow a different character (though some characters do make appearances throughout), and each story revolves around a season or holiday.

A thieving inventor. A future at stake. And she only has one night to discover the truth.

The most prestigious Midsummer celebration in Soldark is only three days away, and this is Verity Pennington’s best–and last–chance to attend. Verity thinks she might just be able to pull off a fantastic mask in order to gain entry, if she can only tap into her unwilling artistic side.

But when a thief breaks into her family’s clock shop and steals invaluable plans, it isn’t just summer revelry on Verity’s dance card. She’ll need to track down the thief–who’ll be showcasing an invention at the ball–and find a way to confront him amid the Soldark elite, without getting kicked out in the process.

With her family’s reputation at stake, she’ll do anything to make it right. But things at the ball are not as they seem, and Verity must find her way through a maze of lies and mechanical masterpieces before she can find out the truth.
