Captain Jameson Hawthorn may have been on the losing side of the Kingstide war, but he still doesn't think it was the wrong side.
After a hard defeat, all Jameson wants to do is keep away from the new king's laws, and bake delicious pies. After refurbishing an old cottage at the edge of the wood, Jameson's baking is beloved throughout the village.
When an old friend from the war seeks his help with a sensitive and highly dangerous delivery, he can't help but heed the call to one last adventure.
But the journey might not be at all what they expected, and the pie maker can't help but wonder if this adventure is more than he's cut out for.
